Welcome

Hello my name is Dana and I am 13 years old. I enjoy acting, music and I want to be a lawyer.

I want to personally thank you for visiting my fundraising website to help me get to the USA and have a life changing operation.

I have a disability called Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy, which affect my legs and the ability to walk. I currently walk with tripod sticks at home and use a wheelchair for outside and school. I am unable to do things other children my age take for granted, things like going into the kitchen and helping with cooking, as I cannot balance on my own. I also need help getting in and out of the car and I cannot go to my bedroom on my own, as I always need my Mum or Dad to help me on the stairs in case I fall. This makes me sad, as I cannot do things when I want without relying on other people. My independence is limited and as I am getting to become a teenager I want to do experience ‘normal’ things and have a normal life. The SDR operation I would like to have will give me independence, which will give me the life I want to lead.

I don’t want to be restricted and rely on others. I want to live life not just exist.

We would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who has supported us reach our target amount and beyond. Dana successfully underwent SDR on the 4th August 2011 and two additional orthopaedic operations in the USA. Since returning home we have implemented a diverse rehabilitation programme which Dana does six times a week.

Dana faces lots of hard work for months ahead and the benefits so far have seen her wheelchair not used since September 2011 and Dana walks everywhere.
